Process/Chemical Engineering

The Chemstress Process Engineering Department provides a full range of process engineering services for the chemical, polymer processing, petroleum refining, electrical, utility, and many other process industries. Chemstress services range from initial process selection to detailed engineering for new projects as well as retrofits and safety analysis of existing facilities.  process chemicalThe Chemstress process engineers are very experienced.  With this experience level, the resulting process design effort offers the client a completed facility with significant operating and capital cost savings.

Services

Process Selection

The process engineer works closely with the client’s research and development personnel to perform a scale-up from the pilot plant to semi-works, or commercial level. The process being studied can be either batch or continuous operation type.  The conceptual process is evaluated for economic and operational feasibility.

Front-End/FEED Packages

The process engineer provides the key input for the Front End Engineering Definition (FEED) package. The process input includes process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, control philosophies, and equipment layout requirements. If the definition package requires a cost estimate, the process engineer also assists in this effort.  Many FEED packages are prepared for oversees locations. The process documents are prepared using an engineering unit system selected by the client.

Detailed Engineering Design

The process engineer further develops or completes the documents originated during the front-end engineering phase, including sizing pressure relief devices, detailed hydraulic calculations, purchased equipment review, and general support for other engineering disciplines

Feasibility Studies

The process engineer performs studies to improve or de-bottleneck existing facilities. The improvement studies include, but are not limited to, energy consumption/conservation and process operation reliability evaluations.

Environmental Engineering

The process engineer assists the client in preparing environmental permits.  This service includes providing the emission/discharge information, and other reference documentation.  The process engineer will also propose and evaluate the process technologies available to meet the client’s specified emission limitations.
